Pontoon and Aluminum Boat Cleaning
Depending on the condition of your pontoons, the issues associated with your area and/or your desired results, you may only need to complete one or two of the following steps.
Step 1: Remove Build-Up from Pontoons and Aluminum
Cleaner: Boat Hull Cleaner
Materials: Cleaning Brush, Water Hose
Aluminum Cleaning Directions: Spray boat hull cleaner on pontoon surface, let stand 5 minutes, agitate with cleaning brush and rinse thoroughly. For heavy deposits on pontoons and aluminum, a longer dwell time or a second application is recommended. Using hot water will increase efficiency.
Step 2: Clean and De-Oxidize Pontoons and Aluminum
Cleaner: Aluminum Cleaner
Materials: Water Hose or Dry Soft Cloth
Aluminum Cleaning Directions: Now that the build up has been removed from the aluminum, the aluminum cleaner can reach the actual surface of the pontoons to clean, de-oxidize and remove stains and discoloration. Spray aluminum cleaner onto surface, starting from the bottom and working your way up to avoid streaking. Let stand 60 seconds to 5 minutes (depending on severity of oxidation), cleaner will foam up, then rinse off or wipe off with a soft, dry cloth. A second application may be needed to create uniform coloration.
Step 3: Polish Aluminum and Create a Brilliant Shine
Cleaner: Metal Polish
Materials: Polishing Ball, Standard Cordless Drill, a Clean Dry Cloth
Aluminum Polishing Directions: Always use polishing ball with drill in forward, or clockwise, direction. Place four dime-size drops of metal polish proportionally across the ball for initial application. Add one to two additional drops as needed for the application. Start by using the drill at slow speeds until metal polish is absorbed, then increase speed. Continue down the surface in horizontal motions. Buff off with an additional polishing ball and/or a clean, dry cloth. Always use precaution when using hand tools. Always wear protective eyewear.
Note: For easy cleaning on your pontoon, boat or RV. Try a black streak remover or detailing spray.
